How do I give away Stuff?
Very Easily. First step. Sign Up. We need the minimum of some contact details (email + name + country) including your geographic location. Anybody in the world can use this site.
Add your stuff. You have to add each type of item but you can group them so they are all listed in one place - and go as a job lot.
You specify how long the Give Away lasts. This gives people a chance to view items in their areas (or get alerts) and apply. You can set as short 1 day (ie you're in a rush) or anything up to a week.
You can also set up to 5 email alerts for stuff you're interested in. Tell us how far (between 1 and 100 miles) you are prepared to travel and the types of items. You'll get an email immediately they appear. If you're ionterested, click the link.
What is Stuff? Stuff is anything that you no longer want but which is too good to bin or take to a tip. Eg Old furniture, clothing, computers, monitors or printers, even car parts, tools, lawnmowers, wood, prams, cribs, washing machines etc etc.
Does Stuff have to be in perfect condition? No. But you must be accurate in describing its condition. For instance. Grundig Colour Portable TV, model XYZ. Volume control broken. You would be amazed what people will take. One man's junk is another man's treasure. (or Woman's)
How do I choose if ten people apply for the same item? if all else fails, pick the first one to apply. But if that person has several Black Marks (for non collection) you might consider someone else. You get to select First, Second and Third Preferences. Once you know the first person isn't coming, you change the status and we email the second preference, and (really bad luck if the 2nd doesn't pickup) the third preference.
How Do I lose Black Marks? By Paying Us! (No! We're only joking!). You lose one Black mark every month and lose one if you collect an item. We realise that people could just sign up with new email accounts so the black marks scheme is just a public slapped wrist.
Do I have to email anyone? No, we take care of that. Once you select your preferences, we email everyone who applied - the first preference gets a "You have been successful", the rest get Dear John letters.
How Do People Contact Me? You setup a standard contact letter. This is only sent to people who you have chosen - it should contain your phone number or email address. We don't send any of your details- we leave that up to you, so you could use your normal email for this site but get a free email (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc) for others to contact you. You should let them contact you before telling them your address.
