Why Free-Use is here
Quite simply. A growing dissatisfaction with freebay.org. It is a great site, don't get me wrong and both I and my other half have given a fair bit of stuff away.
But it is too big. When I was in the London group I was getting 400+ emails a day. And when London was split into smaller groups I found, there was a political element in one or two - "you have to write an essay before you join." Oh Please! Or it wasn't always moderated quickly, so ads could take days before appearing, if at all.
And then there were the non collectors. People who agreed to turn up and never did. It happened twice with one item and that did not impress my other half- to put it mildly
And that dear reader is how we came to be. A belief that a simple website could improve on a terrific idea, which Freebay undoubtedly is. This site is not commercial and the ads are here to pay for traffic- hosting isn't free! Of course if any companies, councils, govt departments whatever would care to enter into a sponsorship deal...
